The MotoGP squad is ready and final, but what about the World SBK project?
After Gigi Dall'Igna joined the 'red' family as a Ducati Corse manager the Borgo Panigale manufacturer made a strong stand towards the future, now, the SBK plan must also find a resolution regarding the fac that Alstare deal is on the edge.
Chaz Davies is more likely to join the SBK team and Ducati wanted also Ben SPies back in the series. Francis Batta is about to close the two year deal because lack of performance and the situation is not easy, at Jerez the team will gather in a big reunion to discuss the future.
ERNESTO MARINELLI - responsable for the SBK project
At Jerez we'll have another meeting with Batta to see how we'll proceed with the next steps of this relationship. It's not a mistery that were some clinches but we are still lookin for a solution.
How does the develpoment work going on for Panigale?
Xavi Fores. which will substitute Checa in the last round, knows very well the bike and will also test at Misano for the bike's development. This will also ease his transition to the WSBK spec bike and also the Pirelli tyres. We will test at Jerez also, still with him.
The bike is the same as it was at Laguna Seca and Magny Cours, the new electronics pack and th next evolution pieces won't be tested until the beginnning of November.
How do you se the arrival of Dall'Igna?
Everything will be organised when he will arrive in November, right now we are in a transition period with Gobmeier. Dall'Igna's results are excelent. It's a big and important change for the company.
Do you have news about Spies?
First of all Ben must continue with his recovery after that injury. We spoke and he was interested about this oportunity but there are some other factors to be discussed also.
Meanwhile it seems that Dall'Igna will bring Michele Gadda with him at Ducati. Gada is currently Melandri's telemtry engineer but above all is the ex telemetrist of Ben Spies from 2009 when he won the WSBK title with Yamaha. Hmm, coincidence...?
